Shimano has become the biggest component manufacturer for bicycles thanks to its gear, pedal and brake components. It's clear that the Japanese want to shape the E-Bike trend from this dominant market position. Even nasty steep sections are effortlessly climbed by the motor. The Shimano EP801 conveys a riding feeling. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the Moterra SL 1 , because of its low range. The integrated battery gives developers constructive freedom when designing the frame. However, to charge it, the bike always has to be brought near an outlet.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Moterra SL 1 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (10000) .

The high-quality Fox chassis also takes away the fear of rough root sections. At the brakes, Cannondale instals upper class brakes with four pistons and large brake rotors from Magura. At the drive components and the remaining parts, Cannondale uses very good parts. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground. The bottom bracket is high, which costs handling points. This tends to make the rider stand on the bike. On other EMTBs it feels better integrated. Overall, the geometry does not seem to be up to date anymore. The competition is significantly more modern in this regard. The scale stays at 20 kg with this model. That makes the Moterra SL 1 one of the light All Mountains.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Cannondale Moterra SL 1

Friends of gravity should jot down the Moterra SL 1. With a very good chassis and a good brake system, the Cannondale is a real trail rocket even for really gnarly terrain. Cannondale gives a warranty of 25 years on the bike.
