One of the very few manufacturers that manages to highlight the lack of battery integration as a design feature. Among hardtails, Thok's MIG HT-R is a rare eye-catcher.
In the automotive and motorcycle world, Japan has always had a reputation for being a breeding ground for excellent engines. Shimano is doing its utmost to live up to this reputation in the e-bike world with the E7000 engine. At steep sections, the somewhat weak Shimano motor requires a lot of initiative from the biker. The Shimano E7000 gives off a rough riding feeling. The short range unfortunately limits the tour radius quite significantly.

Rough descents take the good Rock Shox fork brand its course, though not with the calmness of a top-end fork. The mid-range brakes from SRAM do their job but could be a bit firmer. The power of the four pistons setup is only average. At the drivetrain components and the rest of the parts, Thok uses good equipment. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. The bottom bracket is high, which costs handling points. This tends to make the rider stand on the bike. On other EMTBs it feels better integrated. Short chainstays and and a slack seat angle make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. For the good geometry, the developer team of Thok definitely deserves props. Such a knack for detail in geometry is rarely seen.

Expirience with the Thok MIG HT-R

Especially when gravity pulls man and machine downwards, the MIG HT-R really comes alive. With a very good geometry and a good fork the Thok is a real trail rocket for flowy trails. No Yin without Yang. With a low travel, the MIG HT-R has its weaknesses too.
