The Fuel EXe 9.7 is not the first fully in which Trek wants to distinguish itself in the light segment. Unlike the Super Caliber, however, it is clearly more downhill-oriented.
The TQ HPR 50 is not one of the powerhouses on the market. The somewhat low torque engine could use a bit more support, especially on steep climbs. The motor control of TQ conveys a very natural riding experience. The harmonious power delivery is an ace up the sleeve of the HPR 50. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the Fuel EXe 9.7 , because of its low range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Trek Fuel EXe 9.7 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (9000) .

A good chassis sits in rugged terrain and generates plenty of traction. That's exactly what the good Fox chassis in the Fuel EXe 9.7 hits. Especially for heavy riders, the Trek brakes could be a problem. With four pistons they only decelerate averagely. Taking a holistic approach also includes looking at the gearing and components. The components are of good qualtiy and offer no reason for criticism here. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. Due to the short chainstays , when climbing steep sections, it requires active weight shifting to prevent the front wheel from lifting. For the good geometry, the developer team of Trek definitely deserves props. Such a knack for detail in geometry is rarely seen. The scale stays at 19,05 kg with this model. That makes the Fuel EXe 9.7 one of the light All Mountains.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Trek Fuel EXe 9.7

If you're looking for a comfortable ride for everyday use, the Fuel EXe 9.7 isn't for you, because this bike only knows one gear when going downhill - full throttle! With an outstanding handling and a good chassis, it puts most of the competition in its place. Through a average brake system, the overall picture is somewhat blurred. Trek gives a warranty of 25 years on the bike.
