The Irish from Vitus were late to jump onto the e-mountain bike bandwagon. But with the E-Sommet VR, they present an interesting bike for rough terrain.
Shimano has become the biggest component manufacturer for bicycles thanks to its gear, pedal and brake components. It's clear that the Japanese want to shape the E-Bike trend from this dominant market position. At steep sections, the somewhat weak Shimano motor requires a lot of initiative from the rider. The Shimano E8000 gives off a digital riding feeling. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the E-Sommet VR , because of its low range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Vitus E-Sommet VR Mountain in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (5000) .

Solid endurance qualities are shown by the chassis of medium quality. The thick 38mm stanchions on the fork provide an extra dose of steering precision and performance. Especially for heavy riders, the Vitus brakes could be a problem. With four pistons they only decelerate averagely. The average shifting components and accessories leave some tuning potential open. For most e-bikers, this should be an acceptable point. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. The deep bottom bracket also provides excellent cornering and thus contributes to the good handling. Due to the short chainstays , when climbing steep sections, it requires active weight shifting to prevent the front wheel from lifting. Of course, a low bottom bracket also has its downside. In technical uphills, the pedal can sometimes touch the ground here. However, we think: This is manageable.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Vitus E-Sommet VR Mountain

The E-Sommet VR isnt`t a specialist on the trail. Despite a poor range and a middle ground motor, it remains a solid all-rounder with a wide range of use.
