Bulls Copperhead EVO 1 XXL 27.5” Review

When it comes to classic mountain bikes without a motor, the Copperhead model series is one of the most popular bikes for beginners. And the Copperhead EVO 1 XXL 27.5 also wants to live up to this reputation. At an attractive price of 3599 €, they want to convince with a solid bike. They deliberately refrain from technical innovations to not put too much strain on the customer's wallet.
Bosch is the major motor manufacturer in the EMTB world, alongside Shimano - and it's no surprise, as the Performance Line CX shows. With torque under the motor cover, the support is generous. Nobody needs to fear steep hills anymore. Furthermore, the power of the motor control is regulated so that the start always feels dynamic,. The average range can become a problem especially for long mountain bike rides.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Bulls Copperhead EVO 1 XXL 27.5” in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (4000) .

In rough terrain, the Copperhead EVO 1 XXL 27.5 lacks a bit of control with its only average fork. For an EMTB , the Schwalbe tires with a width of #reifen_inch_breite inches are relatively narrow. In our opinion, Bulls could have put on wider tires. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. If the Meta's chainstay length is less than 445, the short chainstay and, if the Reach's Relative Rating is less than 3, the relatively short reach characterise the Bulls as a playful, agile bike. This makes it easy to navigate through winding trails. Small wheels are becoming rare, but with the Copperhead EVO 1 XXL 27.5 the 27.5 wheels pay off with a playful riding experience. Furthermore, the bike lies excellent on the trail thanks to its low bottom bracket and thus low centre of gravity. Short chainstays and and a slack seat angle make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Bulls Copperhead EVO 1 XXL 27.5”

The Copperhead EVO 1 XXL 27.5 doesn't stand out among the other bikes on the market. It is overshadowed by a mediocre groupset and an average range. Still, it is a solid climber and should find a loyal following.
