BH iLYNX+ TRAIL 8.8 Review

Shimano has become the biggest component manufacturer for bicycles thanks to its gear, pedal and brake components. It's clear that the Japanese want to shape the E-Bike trend from this dominant market position. Even nasty steep sections are effortlessly climbed by the motor. The Shimano EP801 conveys a riding feeling. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the iLYNX+ TRAIL 8.8 , because of its low range.

The frame is simply top notch, keeping you in control even on rougher trails full of fast hard hits. With its four pistons and larger brake rotors the Shimano braking system decelerates fantasticly. This allows you to maintain control over your own pace even in the steepest descents. At the drivetrain components and the rest of the parts, BH uses good equipment. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground. For additional points in downhill handling, the low bottom bracket integrates the rider well into the bike and pulls the centre of gravity down. Short chainstays and and a slack seat angle make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. Overall, the geometry does not seem to be up to date anymore. The competition is significantly more modern in this regard. The deep bottom bracket can however lead to crank strikes in technical uphills and disrupt the climbing flow.
