BH iLYNX+ TRAIL CARBON 8.7 Review

As a component giant, Shimano is mostly known for its dominant position in bicycle gears. But with the EP81, the Japanese are clearly showing that they can look beyond their own plate too. The Shimano motor climbs steep ramps effortlessly. The natural riding feeling combines the Shimano EP81 with a harmonious power delivery. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the iLYNX+ TRAIL CARBON 8.7 with only an average range.

Carbon is considered a premium material in the bike industry. In the price range about 7€, aluminium is usually the frame material used. With the carbon frame, BH can clearly differentiate itself from many competitors. The good Fox chassis confidently dampens small and medium bumps. Bad brakes reduce the riding pleasure. Fortunately, this is not the case with the iLYNX+ TRAIL CARBON 8.7. With their four pistons and large brake rotors the Shimano brake brakes good. At the drivetrain components and the rest of the parts, BH uses good equipment. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. For additional points in downhill handling, the low bottom bracket integrates the rider well into the bike and pulls the centre of gravity down. Of course, a low bottom bracket also has its downside. In technical uphills, the pedal can sometimes touch the ground here. However, we think: This is manageable.
