Bulls SONIC EVO SX 1 Review

The SX from Bosch shows impressively that they shouldn't be limited to DIY and household products. The Swabians from Bosch are sending their first light engine into the race with the SX. With 55 Nm torque, this unit places exactly in the middle between Fazua's Ride 6 and TQ's HPR 5. However, it delivers up to 6 watts of support, similar performance figures to the popular Bosch CX. The starting behavior remains dynamic. The complete motor control is very $natural. In terms of installation space and sound, the small Bosch can't quite keep up with its competitors from the Light segment. The short range unfortunately limits the tour radius quite significantly.

Carbon frames are rather the exception in the price range of about 5€. With the carbon fibre chassis, Bulls thus sets clear accents compared to the aluminium competitors. As the bumps get bigger and rougher the average Bulls fork limits the downhill fun. At the brakes, Bulls middle class four pistons brakes by Shimano are used. The components and the gears are less in the spotlight with an EMTB than with bikes without motor. Nevertheless, when we take a look we find out that here, good components are always used. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground. Overall, the Bulls developers have done a great job with a god geometry. The weight of a bike is a key factor for the fun of riding. With 17,9 kg, the SONIC EVO SX 1 is one of the lightest Tourenbikes on the market. This turns the bike into a real joyride on the trail. If the crankset stands still during the descent, the motor and battery become an unnecessary burden. But Bulls manages to give the SONIC EVO SX 1 a natural, smooth handling despite this, with a very pleasing geometry and low weight. Only very few manufacturers manage to create the illusion of a MTB without motor in the EMTB genre. Hats off!
