Bulls VUCA EVO AM 1 Review

Pinion challenges the decades-old concept of chain shifting and combines its MGU with a gearbox unit. In doing so, the Swabians put their finger on the sore spot of chain shifts. After all, the enclosed gearbox is not only significantly lower in maintenance, but also more resistant to wear and tear and defects. Shifting between the 12 gears is done either automatically or via the electronic shift lever. And with a range of 6%, the system surpasses traditional chain shifts in this respect as well. With 85 Nm, the engine can compete with Bosch or Shimano's flagships, although the motor control is $natural. The maximum support of 41% is in a typical range for full-power motors. Whoever enjoys longer tours will be pleased with the good range.

In the about 7€ price range, most manufacturers use aluminium as the frame material. With a carbon frame, Bulls turns the weight screw and sets itself apart from the competitors. As the bumps become faster and harder, the low-quality chassis could limit the descending fun quite early. Especially for heavy riders, the Bulls brakes could be a problem. With two pistons they only decelerate averagely. The components and the shifting seem less important for Bulls. The components used here have a clear potential for improvement after a view at the competitors. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. The bottom bracket is high, which costs handling points. This tends to make the rider stand on the bike. On other EMTBs it feels better integrated.
