With 180 mm of fork travel, there's no question about this bike's range of use. Who rides the Torque:ON 9 Dual Battery, wants to shred trails. The integrated seat clamp and the USB charging port on the top tube are not absolutely necessary, but nice to have.
As a component giant, Shimano is mostly known for its dominant position in bicycle gears. But with the EP8, the Japanese are clearly showing that they can look beyond their own plate too. No matter how steep or technical the climb is: the Shimano motor makes it conquerable! At the same time, the drive provides a natural feeling while riding with a gentle power delivery. The short range unfortunately limits the tour radius quite significantly.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Torque:ON 9 Dual Battery in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (6000) .

The chassis, besides the motor and battery, is one of the most expensive components of an EMTB. With the golden shine Fox suspension elements, Canyon doesn't skimp in this area. Thanks to an excellent function, the entire bike lies comfortably on the track when it goes downhill. Setup-Nerds can squeeze out the maximum performance from the chassis thanks to the many setting options. The thick 38mm stanchions on the fork provide an extra dose of steering precision and performance. Whoever wants to ride fast, needs good brakes. The SRAM brakes are equipped with four pistons and large brake rotors. That way, the premium brakes decelerate more than adequately. In the area of shifting and the overall parts, Canyon ist on the money. The superb accessories make sure people will notice this bike, no matter where you rock up with it. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground. The deep bottom bracket also provides excellent cornering and thus contributes to the good handling. Short chainstays and and a slack seat angle make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. Hell yeah, the geometry is killer! Here the know-how of the Canyon developers is videly visible. Of course, a low bottom bracket also has its downside. In technical uphills, the pedal can sometimes touch the ground here. However, we think: This is manageable.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Canyon Torque:ON 9 Dual Battery

Friends of gravity should jot down the Torque:ON 9 Dual Battery. With an extremely good chassis, a very good brake system and a very good geometry, the Canyon is a real trail rocket even for really gnarly terrain. With 6 years of warranty, nothing stands in the way of a long-term relationship.
