In the automotive and motorcycle world, Japan has always had a reputation for being a breeding ground for excellent engines. Shimano is doing its utmost to live up to this reputation in the e-bike world with the EP8 engine. Steep ramps are no problem for the Shimano motor. Additionally, the Shimano EP8 stands out with a natural riding feeling and a gentle power delivery. Whoever enjoys longer tours will be pleased with the good range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the eWME 8.9 MX in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (7000) .

The frame is simply top notch, keeping you in control even on rougher trails full of fast hard hits. The thick 38mm stanchions on the fork provide an extra dose of steering precision and performance. At the brakes, Conway middle class four pistons brakes by Magura are used. At the drive components and the remaining parts, Conway uses very good parts. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground. The bottom bracket is high, which costs handling points. This tends to make the rider stand on the bike. On other EMTBs it feels better integrated. Short chainstays and and a slack seat angle make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. Overall, the geometry does not seem to be up to date anymore. The competition is significantly more modern in this regard.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Conway eWME 8.9 MX

The eWME 8.9 MX isnt`t a specialist on the trail. Despite a middle ground brake system, it remains thanks to a very good chassis, a very good groupset and a good motor a solid all-rounder with a wide range of use. A generous warranty also speaks of sustainable business practices. With 5 years of warranty, Conway sets the bar high!
