There are few companies with such a wide E-MTB product range as Focus. The JAM² 8.7 is one of the most successful E-MTBs ever developed in Stuttgart.
Bosch is the major motor manufacturer in the EMTB world, alongside Shimano - and it's no surprise, as the Performance Line CX Smart System shows. No matter how steep or technical the climb is: the Bosch motor makes it conquerable! At the same time, the drive provides a very well-rounded feeling while riding with a progressive power delivery. Achieving such a perfect balance between natural support and power is something few other engines can do. The average range can become a problem especially for long mountain bike rides.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Focus JAM² 8.7 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (6000) .

On rough descents, the moderate chassis limits you and demands a more precise line choice than bikes with better chassis. At the brakes, Focus middle class four pistons brakes by SRAM are used. The average shifting components and accessories leave some tuning potential open. For most e-bikers, this should be an acceptable point. When it comes to the geometry, Focus does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. The low bottom bracket height is a party pooper for the handling on the trail. On other bikes, you are more centrally located behind the handlebar.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Focus JAM² 8.7

If you want to experience the much-vaunted uphill flow, the JAM² 8.7 is a hot candidate for you. Overall, the JAM² 8.7 due to a top-notch motor is a good climber for tours on extremely demanding single trails. But with a mediocre groupset and an average range there are also criticisms that come with the overall package. With a guarantee of 6 years, the warranty is generous.
