Focus JAM² 8.7 Review

Bosch is the major motor manufacturer in the EMTB world, alongside Shimano - and it's no surprise, as the Performance Line CX Smart System shows. No matter how steep or technical the climb is: the Bosch motor makes it conquerable! At the same time, the drive provides a very well-rounded feeling while riding with a progressive power delivery. Achieving such a perfect balance between natural support and power is something few other engines can do. The average range can become a problem especially for long mountain bike rides.

On rough descents, the moderate chassis limits you and demands a more precise line choice than bikes with better chassis. At the brakes, Focus middle class four pistons brakes by SRAM are used. The average shifting components and accessories leave some tuning potential open. For most e-bikers, this should be an acceptable point. When it comes to the geometry, Focus does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. The low bottom bracket height is a party pooper for the handling on the trail. On other bikes, you are more centrally located behind the handlebar.
