The FOLD rear end is not only stiffer than many others thanks to its closed frame triangle, it also works first class and has been tested for years. So the developers aren't taking any chances with the JAM² 7.8. A special feature: Above the bottle cage there is still a mounting option for a storage pack.
Shimano motors remain at the top of the engine popularity alongside Bosch motors. No wonder, as evidenced by EP8. The natural motor control and the gentle power output characterise the character of the Shimano motor. Thanks to the good range, longer tours with the JAM² 7.8 are no problem.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Focus JAM² 7.8 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (5000) .

On rough terrain, the JAM² 7.8 with its average DVO chassis lacks bit of control. The mid-range brakes from Shimano do their job but could be a bit firmer. The power of the four pistons setup is only average. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground. The low bottom bracket height will likely be a sticking point for trail riders, as it negatively affects handling. Due to the short chainstays and the shallow seat angle , when climbing steep sections, it requires active weight shifting to prevent the front wheel from lifting.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Focus JAM² 7.8

With a poor chassis and a middle ground brake system, the JAM² 7.8 definitely has weaknesses. Nevertheless, it remains a solid all-rounder with a wide range of abilities , thanks to a good motor and a good range. The generous warranty of 6 years proves that Focus stands behind its products.
