Focus JAM² 7.9 Review

Shimano has become the biggest component manufacturer for bicycles thanks to its gear, pedal and brake components. It's clear that the Japanese want to shape the E-Bike trend from this dominant market position. The Shimano motor climbs steep ramps effortlessly. The natural riding feeling combines the Shimano EP8 with a harmonious power delivery. Thanks to the good range, longer tours with the JAM² 7.9 are no problem.

Even nasty descents get smoothened by the good Fox chassis. When it comes to the brakes, Focus reaches for the top shelf and instals premium brakes with four pistons and large brake rotors from Shimano. At the drivetrain components and the rest of the parts, Focus uses average parts. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. The low bottom bracket height will likely be a sticking point for trail riders, as it negatively affects handling. Due to the short chainstays , when climbing steep sections, it requires active weight shifting to prevent the front wheel from lifting.
