Made for the rough stuff! With 170 mm of travel, the SAM² 6.8 is a thoroughbred enduro. Even larger obstacles should not upset this bike. One special feature: the cables run through the stem into the frame, which makes for a tidy look. Also worth mentioning: the patented FOLD rear triangle with closed frame and proven function.
The Performance Line CX from Bosch shows impressively that they shouldn't be limited to DIY and household products. Steep ramps are no problem for the Bosch motor. Additionally, the Bosch Performance Line CX stands out with a very natural riding feeling and a dynamic power delivery. Achieving such a perfect balance between natural support and power is something few other engines can do. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the SAM² 6.8 with only an average range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Focus SAM² 6.8 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (6000) .

Rough descents take away some of the fear thanks to the average chassis. The thick 38mm stanchions on the fork provide an extra dose of steering precision and performance. The mid-range brakes from SRAM do their job but could be a bit firmer. The power of the four pistons setup is only average. The average shifting components and accessories leave some tuning potential open. For most e-bikers, this should be an acceptable point. When it comes to the geometry, Focus does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. The low bottom bracket height is a party pooper for the handling on the trail. On other bikes, you are more centrally located behind the handlebar. Short chainstays and and a slack seat angle make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. Overall, the geometry does not seem to be up to date anymore. The competition is significantly more modern in this regard. The view of the weight of 25,8 kg reveals: There are lighter Enduros.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Focus SAM² 6.8

With an average chassis and a mediocre brake system, the SAM² 6.8 definitely has weaknesses. Nevertheless, it remains a solid all-rounder with a wide range of abilities. With a guarantee of 6 years, the warranty is generous.
