Giant FATHOM E+ 3 Review

The Giant SyncDrive Sport is not one of the powerhouses on the market. The somewhat low torque engine could use a bit more support, especially on steep climbs. The motor control of Giant conveys a natural riding experience. The progressive power delivery is an ace up the sleeve of the SyncDrive Sport. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the FATHOM E+ 3 , because of its low range.

In rough terrain, the FATHOM E+ 3 lacks a bit of control with its only average fork. In descending situations, the Tektro brakes require a lot of hand strength or, optionally, courage from the biker. With two pistons and small 18 brake rotors, they only brake poorly. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground. The low bottom bracket height will likely be a sticking point for trail riders, as it negatively affects handling.
