The REMOTE not only comes with less travel, but also much more moderate in terms of design language, than the Remote 160 from Kona.
As a component giant, Shimano is mostly known for its dominant position in bicycle gears. But with the E7000, the Japanese are clearly showing that they can look beyond their own plate too. At steep sections, the somewhat weak Shimano motor requires a lot of initiative from the biker. The Shimano E7000 gives off a rough riding feeling. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the REMOTE , because of its low range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the REMOTE in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (5000) .

In comparison, it's noticeable that the direct competition mounts better chassises, thus offering significantly more control. At the brakes, Kona middle class four pistons brakes by Shimano are used. The components and the shifting seem less important for Kona. The components used here have a clear potential for improvement after a view at the competitors. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. The low bottom bracket height will likely be a sticking point for trail riders, as it negatively affects handling. Due to the short chainstays , when climbing steep sections, it requires active weight shifting to prevent the front wheel from lifting.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Kona REMOTE

Even though the REMOTE is not a top of the class, it still has a clear character. Despite a simple chassis and a middle ground brake system, it remains a solid downhill rider. So Kona appeals mainly to single trail lovers. The generous warranty of 25 years proves that Kona stands behind its products.
