Despite the attractive price, KTM manages to nestle the battery nicely into the down tube with a partial integration. The MACINA RIDE 491 also has a bend in the top tube. This reduces the standover height, which makes getting on and off the bike particularly pleasant. A tribute must be paid to the price, but still: Instead of more stable thru axles, the wheels in the MACINA RIDE 491 are held in the frame by conventional quick-releases.
Bosch is the major motor manufacturer in the EMTB world, alongside Shimano - and it's no surprise, as the Active Line shows. At steep sections, the rather weak Bosch motor requires a lot of initiative from the rider. The Bosch Active Line gives off a well-rounded riding feeling. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the MACINA RIDE 491 , because of its low range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the KTM MACINA RIDE 491 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (2000) .

In rough terrain, the MACINA RIDE 491 lacks a bit of control with its only average fork. Especially heavy riders should be aware that the Shimano only decelerates poorly. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground. On the scale, the MACINA RIDE 491 makes a good figure with 21,9 kg. Most Einsteiger-Bikes are significantly heavier.

Conclusion

Expirience with the KTM MACINA RIDE 491

The hard off-road use is usually not on the menu of cheap e-mountain bikes. This is also the case with the MACINA RIDE 491. With its wide tires, it is rather a comfortable alternative to narrow-gauge trekking bikes. On tours over gravel roads or the daily commute, the MACINA RIDE 491 still feels comfortable. Be careful when choosing the size: The Aluminium frame sizing runs small.
