KTM Macina Scarp SX Prime Review

Bosch is the major motor manufacturer in the EMTB world, alongside Shimano - and it's no surprise, as the Performance Line CX Smart System shows. The very well-rounded motor control and the progressive power output characterise the character of the Bosch motor. This great combination mixed with lots of power, is something only a few other motors at Bosch's level can achieve. The short range unfortunately limits the tour radius quite significantly.

Even nasty descents get smoothened by the good Fox chassis. The mid-range brakes from Shimano do their job but could be a bit firmer. The power of the four pistons in front and two pistons in the rear setup with small 180 brake rotors is only average. The components and the gears are less in the spotlight with an EMTB than with bikes without motor. Nevertheless, when we take a look we find out that here, good components are always used. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground. The low bottom bracket height will likely be a sticking point for trail riders, as it negatively affects handling. The weight of a bike is a key factor for the fun of riding. With 17,3 kg, the Macina Scarp SX Prime is one of the lightest Trailbikes on the market. This turns the bike into a real joyride on the trail. Especially going downhill, the good geometry of the Macina Scarp SX Prime really shines.
