The ALPINE TRAIL E is already hinting at it: With 160 mm, the ALPINE TRAIL E primarily wants to appeal to downhill enthusiasts.
Shimano has become the biggest component manufacturer for bicycles thanks to its gear, pedal and brake components. It's clear that the Japanese want to shape the E-Bike trend from this dominant market position. Even nasty steep sections are effortlessly climbed by the motor. The Shimano EP600 conveys a riding feeling. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the ALPINE TRAIL E , because of its low range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the ALPINE TRAIL E in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (5000) .

Especially on root-strewn trails, the low-quality chassis puts the rider in front of greater challenges than necessary. At the brakes, Marin instals upper class brakes with four pistons and large brake rotors from TRP. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. Due to the short chainstays , when climbing steep sections, it requires active weight shifting to prevent the front wheel from lifting.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Marin ALPINE TRAIL E

With a weak chassis and a poor range, the ALPINE TRAIL E definitely has weaknesses. Nevertheless, it remains a solid all-rounder with a wide range of abilities , thanks to a good brake system and a good geometry. Praise-worthy: 5 years of Warranty on the Frame!
