Megamo CRAVE AL 10 Review

In the automotive and motorcycle world, Japan has always had a reputation for being a breeding ground for excellent engines. Shimano is doing its utmost to live up to this reputation in the e-bike world with the EP8 engine. Steep ramps are no problem for the Shimano motor. Additionally, the Shimano EP8 stands out with a well-rounded riding feeling and a gentle power delivery. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the CRAVE AL 10 with only an average range.

In the about 4000€ price range, most manufacturers use aluminium as the frame material. With a carbon frame, Megamo turns the weight screw and sets itself apart from the competitors. The chassis unfortunately isn't great. Riders might lack comfort on rough terrain. At the brakes, Megamo middle class four pistons brakes by Shimano are used. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. The low bottom bracket height is a party pooper for the handling on the trail. On other bikes, you are more centrally located behind the handlebar. Overall, the geometry does not seem to be up to date anymore. The competition is significantly more modern in this regard.
