Like the vast majority of e-hardtails, the eBIG NINE 400 feels most at home on paved or gravel bike paths.
In the automotive and motorcycle world, Japan has always had a reputation for being a breeding ground for excellent engines. Shimano is doing its utmost to live up to this reputation in the e-bike world with the EP8 engine. Also angriest ramps the Shimano motor easily climbs up well Although the EP8 isn't the strongest when it comes to maximum power, it still has its advantages.. The Shimano EP8 provides a well-rounded riding experience with a gentle power delivery. Thanks to the good range, longer tours with the eBIG NINE 400 are no problem.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the eBIG NINE 400 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (4000) .

As the bumps get bigger and rougher the average SR Suntour fork limits the downhill fun. In descending situations, the Shimano brakes require a lot of hand strength or, optionally, courage from the rider. With two pistons and small 18 brake rotors, they only brake poorly. For an EMTB , the Maxxis tires with a width of #reifen_inch_breite inches are relatively narrow. In our opinion, Merida could have put on wider tires. The average shifting components and accessories leave some tuning potential open. For most e-bikers, this should be an acceptable point. When it comes to the geometry, Merida does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. Overall, the Merida developers have done a great job with a very god geometry.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Merida eBIG NINE 400

With a weak brake system and a middle ground fork, the eBIG NINE 400 definitely has weaknesses. Nevertheless, it remains a solid all-rounder with a wide range of abilities , thanks to a fantastic geometry, a good motor and a Impressive range. The generous warranty of 25 years proves that Merida stands behind its products.
