Mondraker CRAFTY R Review

The Performance Line CX Smart System from Bosch shows impressively that they shouldn't be limited to DIY and household products. Even steepest climbs the Bosch motor easily climbs up well. The Bosch Performance Line CX Smart System provides a very well-rounded riding experience with a progressive power delivery. Achieving such a perfect balance between natural support and power is something few other engines can do. Thanks to the very good range, you should no longer have any range problems even on very long tours.

In the about 7000€ price range, most manufacturers use aluminium as the frame material. With a carbon frame, Mondraker turns the weight screw and sets itself apart from the competitors. The good Fox chassis confidently dampens small and medium bumps. The thick 38mm stanchions on the fork provide an extra dose of steering precision and performance. The mid-range brakes from SRAM do their job but could be a bit firmer. The power of the four pistons setup is only average. At the drivetrain components and the rest of the parts, Mondraker uses good equipment. In view of the high reach value, it becomes clear: The main frame is long. However, the generous reach is compensated for by a very short stem. This way, Mondraker creates a good weight distribution between the wheels and a balanced handling. Also, weight is an important factor when it comes to EMTB. The CRAFTY R isn't exactly shining in this regard. There are lighter All Mountains on the market.
