Norco is still striving for a breakthrough in Europe. However, in America and Canada, bikes like the Fluid VLT C3 140 have amassed a huge fan base over decades, and accordingly, a much larger market share. Can the new Fluid VLT make a dent in the European situation?
Bosch is the major motor manufacturer in the EMTB world, alongside Shimano - and it's no surprise, as the SX shows. The developers at Bosch are entering the race with their first Light Motor, the Performance SX. With 55 Nm of torque, the unit sits squarely between Fazua's Ride 60 and TQ's HPR 50. However, it delivers similar power values to the popular Full-Power sibling, the Powermotor CX, with up to 600 watts of assistance. However, the Bosch SX only delivers this power at a very high cadence. To feel the full power, one must pedal at a sporty 100 revolutions per minute. The startup behavior remains harmonious. The entire motor control is very natural. While in operation, the Performance SX is quieter than the Powermotor CX, but still louder than the sometimes whisper-quiet competition from Fazua or TQ. When descending, Bosch has managed to reduce rattling compared to the CX model, although it remains noticeably audible with the SX. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the Fluid VLT C3 140 , because of its low range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Fluid VLT C3 140 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (8000) .

Solid endurance qualities are shown by the chassis of medium quality. Especially on root-strewn trails, the low-quality chassis puts the rider in front of greater challenges than necessary. The thick 38mm stanchions on the fork provide an extra dose of steering precision and performance. At the brakes, Norco instals upper class brakes with four pistons from TRP. The average shifting components and accessories leave some tuning potential open. For most e-bikers, this should be an acceptable point. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. Short chainstays and make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. The scale stays at 20,3 kg with this model. That makes the Fluid VLT C3 140 one of the light All Mountains.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Norco Fluid VLT C3 140

Overall, a very good motor, a very good handling and a good brake system speak a clear language. The Fluid VLT C3 140 is a good bike with a high fun factor for downhill rides. Only a mediocre chassis and a middle ground groupset mar the overall picture. Check the geometry table carefully before buying: The Fluid VLT C3 140 sizing runs small. The guarantee promise of 5 years provides trust.
