As the little brother of the Rocky Mountain Altitude, the Instinct Powerplay Alloy 70 comes with the same features and looks. The numerous adjustment options for geometry and shock suspension appeal primarily to experienced bikers. The display sits well protected in the top tube in case of a fall.
Even nasty steep sections are effortlessly climbed by the motor. The Dyname 4.0 conveys a riding feeling. The average range can become a problem especially for long mountain bike rides.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Instinct Powerplay Alloy 70 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (7000) .

Rough descents take away some of the fear thanks to the average chassis. Whoever wants to ride fast, needs good brakes. The Shimano brakes are equipped with four pistons and large brake rotors. That way, the premium brakes decelerate more than adequately. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. Furthermore, the bike lies excellent on the trail thanks to its low bottom bracket and thus low centre of gravity. Short chainstays and make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. Overall, the Rocky Mountain developers have done a great job with a god geometry. The deep bottom bracket can however lead to crank strikes in technical uphills and disrupt the climbing flow.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay Alloy 70

Friends of gravity should jot down the Instinct Powerplay Alloy 70. With a very good brake system and a very good geometry, the Rocky Mountain is a real trail rocket. But an average chassis are of course points of criticism that one should be aware of before purchasing. With 5 years of guarantee, nothing can go wrong in the long run.
