Santa Cruz BULLIT S / Carbon CC / MX Review

As a component giant, Shimano is mostly known for its dominant position in bicycle gears. But with the EP8, the Japanese are clearly showing that they can look beyond their own plate too. The Shimano motor takes away the fear of even the steepest ramps. The combination of a well-rounded riding feeling and a harmonious power delivery characterises the Shimano EP8. The average range can become a problem especially for long mountain bike rides.

The good Fox chassis confidently dampens small and medium bumps. If the trail gets rougher however, the comparatively weak chassis can quickly limit the downhill fun. The thick 38mm stanchions on the fork provide an extra dose of steering precision and performance. Thanks to the solid power, the SRAM brakes can be counted on in the upper class segment. With four pistons and big brake rotors, Santa Cruz won't take any chances in that area. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. For the very good geometry, the developer team of Santa Cruz definitely deserves props. Such a knack for detail in geometry is rarely seen. On the scale, the BULLIT S makes a good figure with 22,47 kg. Most Enduros are significantly heavier.
