Thok TK01 R Review

Shimano has become the biggest component manufacturer for bicycles thanks to its gear, pedal and brake components. It's clear that the Japanese want to shape the E-Bike trend from this dominant market position. The Shimano motor takes away the fear of even the steepest ramps. The combination of a natural riding feeling and a gentle power delivery characterises the Shimano EP8. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the TK01 R with only an average range.

The good Rock Shox chassis absorbs even larger roots with the calmness of a Buddhist monk. The thick 38mm stanchions on the fork provide an extra dose of steering precision and performance. With its four pistons and larger brake rotors the Shimano braking system decelerates fantasticly. This allows you to maintain control over your own pace even in the steepest descents. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. When it comes to the geometry, Thok does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. The low bottom bracket height is a party pooper for the handling on the trail. On other bikes, you are more centrally located behind the handlebar.
