The E-Caliber 9.9 XTR is one of the very few e-mountain bikes with a super sporty orientation. With just 120 mm of suspension travel at the fork, it underlines its ambitions for racing. The exclusive rear suspension comes from the successful race fully without motor. With it, Jolanda Neff has even become an Olympic champion. For use on more rough trails, Trek has other models in its product range for this purpose.
At steep sections, the somewhat weak FAZUA motor requires a lot of initiative from the rider. The FAZUA Evation Ride 50 Trail gives off a natural riding feeling. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the E-Caliber 9.9 XTR , because of its low range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the E-Caliber 9.9 XTR in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (12000) .

With only 120 mm travel of the Fox chassis, it's not exactly generously equipped. However, in its preferred habitat, the Fox chassis works well in its on gravel roads and simple forest paths. Whoever wants to ride fast, needs good brakes. The Shimano brakes are equipped with four pistons. That way, the premium brakes decelerate more than adequately. Taking a holistic approach also includes looking at the gearing and components. The components are of good qualtiy and offer no reason for criticism here. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. The low bottom bracket height will likely be a sticking point for trail riders, as it negatively affects handling. Due to the short chainstays and the shallow seat angle , when climbing steep sections, it requires active weight shifting to prevent the front wheel from lifting. When I looked at the weight of the complete bike, my jaw actually dropped. With 16,4 kg, the E-Caliber 9.9 XTR is a real lightweight. If the crankset stands still during the descent, the motor and battery become an unnecessary burden. But Trek manages to give the E-Caliber 9.9 XTR a natural, smooth handling despite this, with a pleasing geometry and low weight. Only very few manufacturers manage to create the illusion of a MTB without motor in the EMTB genre. Hats off!

Expirience with the Trek E-Caliber 9.9 XTR

Overall, a fantastic handling, a very good brake system and a good chassis speak a clear language. The E-Caliber 9.9 XTR is a good bike with a high fun factor for downhill rides. Only a low travel mar the overall picture. A generous warranty also speaks of sustainable business practices. With 25 years of warranty, Trek sets the bar high!
