Trek Fuel EXe 5 Review

The Fuel EXe 5 is not the first fully in which Trek wants to distinguish itself in the light segment. Unlike the Super Caliber, however, it is clearly more downhill-oriented.
In steep sections the somewhat low torque TQ motor requires a lot of initiative from the rider. The TQ HPR 50 provides a very well-rounded riding experience. The power delivery is always gentle. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the Fuel EXe 5 , because of its low range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Trek Fuel EXe 5 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (5000) .

Especially on root-strewn trails, the low-quality chassis puts the rider in front of greater challenges than necessary. At the brakes, Trek middle class four pistons brakes by Tektro are used. Shifting and components still leave room for improvement. Other providers dig deeper into their pockets for these assemblies. When it comes to the geometry, Trek does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. Short chainstays and make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. The scale stays at 20,8 kg with this model. That makes the Fuel EXe 5 one of the light All Mountains.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Trek Fuel EXe 5

With a simple chassis and a weak groupset, the Fuel EXe 5 definitely has weaknesses. Nevertheless, it remains a solid all-rounder with a wide range of abilities , thanks to a top-notch motor and a very good handling. The generous warranty of 25 years proves that Trek stands behind its products.
