Trek Fuel EXe 8 XT Review

The gentle power delivery is a clear character of the HPR 50. With 50 Nm torque, the support on the hill is rather moderate. The very well-rounded motor control of the HPR 50 shapes the riding feel of the Fuel EXe 8 XT. The short range unfortunately limits the tour radius quite significantly.

The good Fox chassis absorbs even larger roots with the calmness of a Buddhist monk. The mid-range brakes from Shimano do their job but could be a bit firmer. The power of the four pistons setup is only average. Taking a holistic approach also includes looking at the gearing and components. The components are of good qualtiy and offer no reason for criticism here. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground. Short chainstays and make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. Hell yeah, the geometry is killer! Here the know-how of the Trek developers is videly visible. The scale stays at 20,1 kg with this model. That makes the Fuel EXe 8 XT one of the light All Mountains.
