The Fuel EXe 9.8 XT is not the first fully in which Trek wants to distinguish itself in the light segment. Unlike the Super Caliber, however, it is clearly more downhill-oriented.
The TQ HPR 50 is not one of the powerhouses on the market. The somewhat low torque engine could use a bit more support, especially on steep climbs. The motor control of TQ conveys a very well-rounded riding experience. The gentle power delivery is an ace up the sleeve of the HPR 50. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the Fuel EXe 9.8 XT , because of its low range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Fuel EXe 9.8 XT in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (10000) .

A good chassis sits in rugged terrain and generates plenty of traction. That's exactly what the good Rock Shox chassis in the Fuel EXe 9.8 XT hits. When it comes to the brakes, Trek reaches for the top shelf and instals premium brakes with four pistons and 2 millimeter rotors from Shimano. The average shifting components and accessories leave some tuning potential open. For most e-bikers, this should be an acceptable point. When it comes to the geometry, Trek does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. Short chainstays and make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. For the good geometry, the developer team of Trek definitely deserves props. Such a knack for detail in geometry is rarely seen. When I looked at the weight of the complete bike, my jaw actually dropped. With 18,1 kg, the Fuel EXe 9.8 XT is a real lightweight. Especially going downhill, the good geometry of the Fuel EXe 9.8 XT really shines.
