Bicycle titan Trek is not too proud to shift its focus from the high-end segment. The Marlin+ 6 is an attempt to engage customer groups beyond the hardcore scene.
Bosch is the major motor manufacturer in the EMTB world, alongside Shimano - and it's no surprise, as the Active Line Plus shows. At steep sections, the somewhat weak Bosch motor requires a lot of initiative from the biker. The Bosch Active Line Plus gives off a natural riding feeling. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the Marlin+ 6 , because of its low range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Trek Marlin+ 6 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (3000) .

In rough terrain, the Marlin+ 6 lacks a bit of control with its only average fork. At the brakes, Trek reaches for the bottom of the Tektro shelf and instals simple brakes with two pistons. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. When it comes to the geometry, Trek does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. With its 22,45 kg, the Marlin+ 6 is one of the lighter E-bikes. The competition is often significantly heavier.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Trek Marlin+ 6

With a weak brake system and a weak range, the Marlin+ 6 definitely has weaknesses. Nevertheless, it remains a solid all-rounder with a wide range of abilities , thanks to a top-notch geometry. Warning when choosing size: The Marlin+ 6 sizing runs small. The generous warranty of 25 years proves that Trek stands behind its products.
