Trek Slash+ 9.7 SLX/XT Review

In steep sections the somewhat low torque TQ motor requires a lot of initiative from the rider. The TQ HPR 5 provides a very natural riding experience. The power delivery is always gentle. The short range unfortunately limits the tour radius quite significantly.

The good Fox chassis absorbs even larger roots with the calmness of a Buddhist monk. The thick 38mm stanchions on the fork provide an extra dose of steering precision and performance. Thanks to the solid power, the Shimano brakes can be counted on in the upper class segment. With four pistons and big brake rotors, Trek won't take any chances in that area. The components and the gears are less in the spotlight with an EMTB than with bikes without motor. Nevertheless, when we take a look we find out that here, good components are always used. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground. Short chainstays and make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. Overall, the Trek developers have done a great job with a very god geometry. With its 2,38 kg, the Slash+ 9.7 is one of the lighter E-bikes. The competition is often significantly heavier.
