The Irish from Vitus were late to jump onto the e-mountain bike bandwagon. But with the E-Sommet VRS, they present an interesting bike for rough terrain.
In the automotive and motorcycle world, Japan has always had a reputation for being a breeding ground for excellent engines. Shimano is doing its utmost to live up to this reputation in the e-bike world with the E8000 engine. At steep sections, the somewhat weak Shimano motor requires a lot of initiative from the biker. The Shimano E8000 gives off a rough riding feeling. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the E-Sommet VRS with only an average range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the E-Sommet VRS Mountain in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (6000) .

Solid endurance qualities are shown by the chassis of medium quality. The thick 38mm stanchions on the fork provide an extra dose of steering precision and performance. Thanks to the solid power, the Shimano brakes can be counted on in the upper class segment. With four pistons and big brake rotors, Vitus won't take any chances in that area. At the drivetrain components and the rest of the parts, Vitus uses average parts. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. For additional points in downhill handling, the low bottom bracket integrates the rider well into the bike and pulls the centre of gravity down. Due to the short chainstays , when climbing steep sections, it requires active weight shifting to prevent the front wheel from lifting. Of course, a low bottom bracket also has its downside. In technical uphills, the pedal can sometimes touch the ground here. However, we think: This is manageable.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Vitus E-Sommet VRS Mountain

With a mediocre motor and a middle ground chassis, the E-Sommet VRS definitely has weaknesses. Nevertheless, it remains a solid all-rounder with a wide range of abilities , thanks to a good brake system and a good geometry.
