Even though the James 1 has 120 mm of travel at the fork, it lacks rear suspension for serious off-road use. The e-hardtail feels most comfortable on asphalt or gravel bike paths.
The Performance Line CX from Bosch shows impressively that they shouldn't be limited to DIY and household products. Also steepest climbs the Bosch motor easily climbs up well. The Bosch Performance Line CX provides a very natural riding experience with a dynamic power delivery. Achieving such a perfect balance between natural support and power is something few other engines can do. Thanks to the very good range, you should no longer have any range problems even on very long tours.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the James 1 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (4000) .

The good Rock Shox fork dampens small and medium bumps confidently when mountain biking. Especially heavy riders should be aware that the Shimano only decelerates poorly. For an EMTB , the Schwalbe tires with a width of #reifen_inch_breite inches are relatively narrow. In our opinion, Bionicon could have put on wider tires. The components and the gears are less in the spotlight with an EMTB than with bikes without motor. Nevertheless, when we take a look we find out that here, good components are always used. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Bionicon James 1

For long tours, the James 1 with a very strong range, a good motor and a good fork is well equipped. Only with a poor brake system you have to look away. Check the geometry table carefully before buying: The James 1 sizing runs small.
