The designers at the Cologne-based Bulls brand have gone all out on the Sonic EVO EN-SL 2 Carbon. The flat top tube harmonises perfectly with the seat stays and forms a visually appealing contrast to the bulky down tube. The bottle holder under the top tube is accessible at all times while seated.
As a component giant, Shimano is mostly known for its dominant position in bicycle gears. But with the EP8, the Japanese are clearly showing that they can look beyond their own plate too. With torque under the motor cover, the support is generous. Nobody needs to fear steep hills anymore. Furthermore, the power of the motor control is regulated so that the start always feels dynamic,. Whoever enjoys longer tours will be pleased with the good range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Sonic EVO EN-SL 2 Carbon in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (7000) .

Carbon frames are rather the exception in the price range of about 7000€. With the carbon fibre chassis, Bulls thus sets clear accents compared to the aluminium competitors. Even nasty descents get smoothened by the good Rock Shox chassis. Whoever wants to ride fast, needs good brakes. The Shimano brakes are equipped with four pistons and large brake rotors. That way, the premium brakes decelerate more than adequately. The narrow #reifen_inch_breite Schwalbe tires do not do this All Mountains range of use any justice. In our opinion, Bulls has saved weight in the wrong place here. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. When it comes to the geometry, Bulls does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. The low bottom bracket height is a party pooper for the handling on the trail. On other bikes, you are more centrally located behind the handlebar. Short chainstays and and a slack seat angle make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Bulls Sonic EVO EN-SL 2 Carbon

Overall, a very good brake system, a good chassis and a good geometry speak a clear language. The Sonic EVO EN-SL 2 Carbon is a good bike with mini-downhill DNA
