Canyon Neuron:ON 9 Review

As a component giant, Shimano is mostly known for its dominant position in bicycle gears. But with the EP8, the Japanese are clearly showing that they can look beyond their own plate too. The Shimano motor takes away the fear of even the steepest ramps. The combination of a natural riding feeling and a gentle power delivery characterises the Shimano EP8. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the Neuron:ON 9 with only an average range.

Rough descents take away some of the fear thanks to the average chassis. At the brakes, Canyon middle class four pistons brakes by SRAM are used. The average shifting components and accessories leave some tuning potential open. For most e-bikers, this should be an acceptable point. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. The bottom bracket is high, which costs handling points. This tends to make the rider stand on the bike. On other EMTBs it feels better integrated. Short chainstays and and a slack seat angle make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. Overall, the geometry does not seem to be up to date anymore. The competition is significantly more modern in this regard.
