The appearance of the Spectral ONfly 9 is strikingly similar to that of the non-motorized Spectral. Canyon has truly pulled off a masterstroke here. A standout feature is the integration of the K.I.S. steering stabilizer in the top tube. Through two small springs, the handlebars are subtly pushed back to a straight-ahead position, which is particularly helpful in edge-of-control situations when the front wheel starts to slide, helping to prevent a crash.
The TQ HPR 5 is not one of the powerhouses on the market. The somewhat low torque engine could use a bit more support, especially on steep climbs. The motor control of TQ conveys a very well-rounded riding experience. The gentle power delivery is an ace up the sleeve of the HPR 5. The short range unfortunately limits the tour radius quite significantly. The integrated battery gives developers constructive freedom when designing the frame. However, to charge it, the bike always has to be brought near an outlet.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Canyon Spectral ONfly 9 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (6000) .

In the about 65€ price range, most manufacturers use aluminium as the frame material. With a carbon frame, Canyon turns the weight screw and sets itself apart from the competitors. Solid endurance qualities are shown by the chassis of medium quality. When it comes to the brakes, Canyon reaches for the top shelf and instals premium brakes with four pistons and large brake rotors from Shimano. The components and the gears are less in the spotlight with an EMTB than with bikes without motor. Nevertheless, when we take a look we find out that here, good components are always used. The relatively high reach value in the geometry table is compensated by Canyon with a relatively short stem. Thus, the long main frame remains maneuverable in the terrain. The scale stays at 18,8 kg with this model. That makes the Spectral ONfly 9 one of the light Trailbikes.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Canyon Spectral ONfly 9

Especially when gravity pulls both man and machine down, the Spectral ONfly 9 really comes to life. With a top-notch geometry, a $brake system_sehr_gut brake system and a good groupset, the Canyon is a real trail rocket. But also a mediocre chassis are part of the overall package that one must be aware of before buying.
