There are few companies with such a wide E-MTB product range as Focus. The JAM² 8.9 is one of the most successful E-MTBs ever developed in Stuttgart.
Bosch is the major motor manufacturer in the EMTB world, alongside Shimano - and it's no surprise, as the Performance Line CX Smart System shows. With torque under the motor cover, the support is generous. Nobody needs to fear steep hills anymore. Furthermore, the power of the motor control is regulated so that the start always feels dynamic,. Whoever likes to go on long rides will be pleased with the very good range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the JAM² 8.9 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (8000) .

Even the most treacherous downhill runs are effortlessly handled by the high-end Fox chassis. When it comes to the brakes, Focus reaches for the top shelf and instals premium brakes with four pistons and large brake rotors from Shimano. The components and the gears are less in the spotlight with an EMTB than with bikes without motor. Nevertheless, when we take a look we find out that here, good components are always used. When it comes to the geometry, Focus does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. The low bottom bracket height is a party pooper for the handling on the trail. On other bikes, you are more centrally located behind the handlebar.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Focus JAM² 8.9

For long tours, the JAM² 8.9 with a fantastic motor, a very good chassis and a very good brake system is well equipped. With 6 years of guarantee, nothing can go wrong in the long run.
