With the model addition SL Focus wants to build an E-MTB that meets the latest demands of the light E-MTB trend. The carbon frame with its filigree lines already meets the taste of the target group.

Even steep ramps are surprisingly easy to climb with the Fazua motor. With its boost function, which provides 450 watts of support for a short period of time, the Fazua Ride 60 reduces the gap between light and classic full-power motors. At the moment, hardly any other light motor offers such a good combination of natural support, dynamic power delivery and capability. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the JAM² SL 9.0 , because of its low range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Focus JAM² SL 9.0 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (11000) .

In the Downhill, the bike racks up plenty of points. The excellent Fox chassis calmly and confidently handles rough terrain. Whoever wants to ride fast, needs good brakes. The SRAM brakes are equipped with four pistons and large brake rotors. That way, the premium brakes decelerate more than adequately. For an All Mountain , the Maxxis tires with a width of #reifen_inch_breite inches are relatively narrow. In our opinion, Focus could have put on wider tires. A nice touch: The gear and components are on a very good level. When it comes to the geometry, Focus does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. The low bottom bracket height will likely be a sticking point for trail riders, as it negatively affects handling. Short chainstays and make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. When I looked at the weight of the complete bike, my jaw actually dropped. With 17,9 kg, the JAM² SL 9.0 is a real lightweight. If the crankset stands still during the descent, the motor and battery become an unnecessary burden. But Focus manages to give the JAM² SL 9.0 a natural, smooth handling despite this, with a pleasing geometry and low weight. Only very few manufacturers manage to create the illusion of a MTB without motor in the EMTB genre. Hats off!

Conclusion

Expirience with the Focus JAM² SL 9.0

With an excellent handling, a very good chassis and a very good brake system, the JAM² SL 9.0 is an excellent choice for riders for whom fun starts mainly in the descent. Warning when choosing size: The JAM² SL 9.0 sizing runs small. Praise-worthy: 6 years of Warranty on the Frame!
