GASGAS G Light Trail 2.0 Review

The full carbon frame of the G Light Trail 2.0 is simple but stylish. The large 29 inch wheels should give the bike more riding safety than the other models in the GASGAS range.
At steep sections, the somewhat weak R Raymon motor requires a lot of initiative from the rider. The R Raymon Air Drive gives off a natural riding feeling. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the G Light Trail 2.0 , because of its low range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the G Light Trail 2.0 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (6000) .

Carbon frames are rather the exception in the price range of about 6000€. With the carbon fibre chassis, GASGAS thus sets clear accents compared to the aluminium competitors. On rough terrain, the G Light Trail 2.0 with its average Rock Shox chassis lacks bit of control. Especially for heavy riders, the GASGAS brakes could be a problem. With four pistons they only decelerate averagely. The narrow #reifen_inch_breite Continental tires do not do this All Mountains range of use any justice. In our opinion, GASGAS has saved weight in the wrong place here. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. The combination of a slack head tube angle and long wheelbase makes the G Light Trail 2.0 remain steady even at higher speeds. The bottom bracket is high, which costs handling points. This tends to make the rider stand on the bike. On other EMTBs it feels better integrated. Overall, the geometry does not seem to be up to date anymore. The competition is significantly more modern in this regard.

Conclusion

Expirience with the GASGAS G Light Trail 2.0

Even though the G Light Trail 2.0 is not a top of the class, it still has a clear character. Despite a simple chassis and a mediocre brake system, it remains a solid downhill rider. So GASGAS appeals mainly to single trail lovers. Be careful when choosing the size: The Carbon frame sizing runs big.
