The Nukeproof brand has always supplied bikes for adrenaline-seeking trail lovers. With 170 mm of suspension travel at the fork, the Megawatt RS also fits this mold.
In the automotive and motorcycle world, Japan has always had a reputation for being a breeding ground for excellent engines. Shimano is doing its utmost to live up to this reputation in the e-bike world with the EP8 engine. No matter how steep or technical the climb is: the Shimano motor makes it conquerable! At the same time, the drive provides a natural feeling while riding with a gentle power delivery. The average range can become a problem especially for long mountain bike rides.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Nukeproof Megawatt RS in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (8000) .

In the Downhill, the bike racks up plenty of points. The outstanding Rock Shox chassis calmly and confidently handles rough terrain. Setup-Nerds can squeeze out the maximum performance from the chassis thanks to the many setting options. The thick 38mm stanchions on the fork provide an extra dose of steering precision and performance. At the rear, the steel spring shock absorber provides maximum sensitivity. With its four pistons and larger brake rotors the SRAM braking system decelerates top-notchly. This allows you to maintain control over your own pace even in the steepest descents. For an Enduro , the Michelin tires with a width of #reifen_inch_breite inches are relatively narrow. In our opinion, Nukeproof could have put on wider tires. The components and the gears are less in the spotlight with an EMTB than with bikes without motor. Nevertheless, when we take a look we find out that here, good components are always used. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. Due to the short chainstays , when climbing steep sections, it requires active weight shifting to prevent the front wheel from lifting.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Nukeproof Megawatt RS

With a mediocre range, the Megawatt RS definitely has weaknesses. Nevertheless, it remains a solid all-rounder with a wide range of abilities , thanks to a very good chassis, a very good brake system and a good motor.
