Orbea RISE H30 Review

To manufacture an aluminium E-MTB frame with a slim silhouette, only the fewest manufacturers succeed in doing so. With the RISE H30, however, you can hardly tell that it's an e-bike. We take our hats off to this achievement.
As a component giant, Shimano is mostly known for its dominant position in bicycle gears. But with the EP8 RS, the Japanese are clearly showing that they can look beyond their own plate too. At the drivetrain, Orbea relies on the Shimano EP8 RS. The big difference between the EP8 RS and the regular EP8 motor lies in the software. For use in light EMTBs, the maximum support was slightly reduced. Nevertheless, the EP8 RS remains significantly stronger than other light motors. Like the EP8, the EP8 RS conveys a natural riding experience. The power delivery is always harmonious. Something annoying with the EP8 RS is the slight gear rattle downhill. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the RISE H30 with only an average range. The battery is securely attached to the down tube and cannot be removed for charging or storage.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the RISE H30 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (5000) .

Solid endurance qualities are shown by the chassis of medium quality. The average shifting components and accessories leave some tuning potential open. For most e-bikers, this should be an acceptable point. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground. The low bottom bracket height will likely be a sticking point for trail riders, as it negatively affects handling. Short chainstays and make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. Hell yeah, the geometry is killer! Here the know-how of the Orbea developers is videly visible. With its 20,9 kg, the RISE H30 is one of the lighter E-bikes. The competition is often significantly heavier.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Orbea RISE H30

The RISE H30 isnt`t a specialist on the trail. Despite a weak brake system and an average motor, it remains thanks to a very good geometry a solid all-rounder with a wide range of use. With 25 years of guarantee, nothing can go wrong in the long run.
