Orbea RISE M-TEAM Review

The Spanish manufacturer Orbea has grown strongly in recent years. The reason for this can also be clearly seen in the RISE M-TEAM. Because one success factor is definitely the style that the product developers breathe into their e-mountain bikes.
Shimano has become the biggest component manufacturer for bicycles thanks to its gear, pedal and brake components. It's clear that the Japanese want to shape the E-Bike trend from this dominant market position. At the drivetrain, Orbea relies on the Shimano EP8 RS. The big difference between the EP8 RS and the regular EP8 motor lies in the software. For use in light EMTBs, the maximum support was slightly reduced. Nevertheless, the EP8 RS remains significantly stronger than other light motors. Like the EP8, the EP8 RS conveys a natural riding experience. The power delivery is always harmonious. Something annoying with the EP8 RS is the slight gear rattle downhill. The short range unfortunately limits the tour radius quite significantly. The integrated battery gives developers constructive freedom when designing the frame. However, to charge it, the bike always has to be brought near an outlet.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the RISE M-TEAM in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (10000) .

In the Downhill, the bike racks up plenty of points. The fantastic Fox chassis calmly and confidently handles rough terrain. Bad brakes reduce the riding pleasure. Fortunately, this is not the case with the RISE M-TEAM. With their four pistons the Shimano brake brakes good. Those who live for premium quality will love the transmission and parts of this EMTB. Here Orbea cranks up the bling-bling factor to 11. When it comes to the geometry, Orbea does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. The low bottom bracket height will likely be a sticking point for trail riders, as it negatively affects handling. Short chainstays and make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward. With its slim weight, the RISE M-TEAM is one of the lightest EMTBs. If the crankset stands still during the descent, the motor and battery become an unnecessary burden. But Orbea manages to give the RISE M-TEAM a natural, smooth handling despite this, with a pleasing geometry and low weight. Only very few manufacturers manage to create the illusion of a MTB without motor in the EMTB genre. Hats off!

Conclusion

Expirience with the Orbea RISE M-TEAM

Overall, an extremely good handling, a very good chassis and a good brake system speak a clear language. The RISE M-TEAM is a good bike with a high fun factor for downhill rides. A generous warranty also speaks of sustainable business practices. With 25 years of warranty, Orbea sets the bar high!
