As a component giant, Shimano is mostly known for its dominant position in bicycle gears. But with the EP8, the Japanese are clearly showing that they can look beyond their own plate too. The Shimano motor takes away the fear of even the steepest ramps. The combination of a well-rounded riding feeling and a harmonious power delivery characterises the Shimano EP8. Whoever enjoys longer tours will be pleased with the good range.

The good Fox chassis absorbs even larger roots with the calmness of a Buddhist monk. At the brakes, Pivot instals upper class brakes with four pistons from Shimano. The average shifting components and accessories leave some tuning potential open. For most e-bikers, this should be an acceptable point. The moderate head tube angle provides a good compromise between stability and agility when going downhill. The reach is also right there in the middle ground. The low bottom bracket height is a party pooper for the handling on the trail. On other bikes, you are more centrally located behind the handlebar. Short chainstays and and a slack seat angle make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward.
