Carbon frames are rather the exception in the price range of about 6000€. With the carbon fibre chassis, Stevens thus sets clear accents compared to the aluminium competitors. Especially on root-strewn trails, the low-quality chassis puts the rider in front of greater challenges than necessary. The thick 38mm stanchions on the fork provide an extra dose of steering precision and performance. Whoever wants to ride fast, needs good brakes. The Shimano brakes are equipped with four pistons and 2 millimeter rotors. That way, the premium brakes decelerate more than adequately. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. The handling of the bike is pleasantly balanced due to the moderate geometry. This allows you to intuitively control the bike over the trails. The bottom bracket is high, which costs handling points. This tends to make the rider stand on the bike. On other EMTBs it feels better integrated. Short chainstays and and a slack seat angle make the front end light in steep climbs. To keep the front wheel on the ground, you need to consciously lean forward.
