Bosch has the most popular motor. However, up until now, sporty riders have often been disappointed by the display solutions from the Swabians. The Bosch Kiox 400C is intended for integrated mounting in the top tube for the first time. M1 Sporttechnik has developed an adapter solution to make the display accessible to bikes without a compatible frame.
Bosch sure knows how to build motors. Our comprehensive motor test showed: The Bosch CX Gen 5 is currently the benchmark in terms of motor control, noise, and sound. And with the latest update, it even matches the performance specs of the DJI Avinox.
But when it comes to displays, they’ve always been somewhat bulky. Last year, this improved slightly with the introduction of the Purion 400 and Purion 200. Still, even these displays aren’t perfect. For instance, they don’t offer navigation.
The Kiox displays, which can provide navigation, were quite large and therefore only mountable in prominent positions on the handlebar. This was not ideal for sporty riders.
Typically, the new Kiox 400C display is integrated into the top tube. However, M1 has also developed an aftermarket solution for bikes not designed for it.

M1 Sporttechnik is known as an e-bike manufacturer for detailed solutions that few others in the industry offer. Here you can find the bike's test report.
With the help of a plastic mount, the new Kiox 400 C display can also be installed on the stem.
These features are available on the new Kiox 400C
The big disappointment: The Kiox 400C does not have a touchscreen. It has to be operated via a remote or the buttons on the display.
The display can show a map and navigate. However, you need to purchase the Bosch Flow+ subscription for €40 per year for this feature.
Otherwise, it displays metrics such as power, cadence, range, trip data, total mileage of the bike, and other data. Nice gimmick: The display automatically switches to a speed-only view when going downhill. If the bike detects that you are pedaling again, the screen switches back to the originally selected data sheet.
Additionally, the display has the option to connect a USB-C cable for the first time. So, anyone wanting to charge a smartphone, a GPS speedometer, or a light from the display has the opportunity to do so for the first time. This is not possible with any other Kiox display.
There are two disappointments: The display doesn't have touch functionality, and for navigation, you still need to purchase an annual subscription from Bosch for €40.
For the first time, there is a USB-C charging port on the display for other devices.
News or battery levels from the paired smartphone can also be displayed.
Many frames are ready for the new display.
Many frames such as Cube’s latest Stereo Hybrid models, the Radon Deft, and the Santa Cruz Vala already feature a cutout in the top tube to accommodate the retrofit of the display. In such cases, the LED Hub sits in a substantial plastic frame.
The display can be retrofitted to all motors with a Smart System. This means older Bosch CX Gen 4 motors can also be outfitted with this display. For those who don’t have a frame designed for this purpose, M1 Sporttechnik offers a retrofit kit for mounting on the handlebars.
The plastic frame around the LED controller clearly indicates: This is where the new Kiox 400 C display is placed. Many manufacturers, like Santa Cruz, are well-positioned for the future here.
Especially interesting for many: The latest Cube Stereo Hybrid models are also designed for the new display.
Just behind the headset, there's space for the Bosch Kiox 400 C.
Bosch Kiox 400C Display Retrofit Kit
For those who absolutely want the display, perhaps to use the USB-C charging port on the handlebars for a GPS or a smartphone, or because they can do without the remote control on the handlebars if they use the display, but their frame is not equipped for it, M1 has developed a Bosch Kiox 400c retrofit kit for €40. This kit allows the device to be mounted on eMTBs whose frames are not prepared for it.
The display is mounted with a small plastic frame and a Fidlock closure on the stem’s top cap. Especially for navigation, it is much more visible in this position than on the top tube. An additional advantage included with the retrofit kit: there is a cut-out under the display for an Apple AirTag to protect the bike against theft.
The retrofit kit also includes a space for an Apple AirTag, allowing you to protect your bike against theft.
Right on the stem, the display looks like a GPS speedometer.
The display also shows your own power output and cadence.
Prices and Availability
The display will be available in specialty stores from mid-June 2025. The MSRP is set high by Bosch at €250. Our opinion is that the market will quickly establish a lower price here.
The retrofit kit from M1 is available on the M1 webshop for €39.90.
Bosch display variants
One of the remote options that nobody really wants: The LED remote is bulky and can be replaced by the Kiox 400 C.
Savvy manufacturers have already positioned the Kiox 300 display protected alongside the stem.
The Purion 200 display is in a risk-prone position during crashes.
The Purion 400 is well-protected but, like the Purion 200, it also cannot navigate.
Absolute minimalism. The Bosch Mini Remote.
Many manufacturers have equipped their sporty e-bikes with only a mini remote and LED hub, and have completely omitted a display due to the lack of good options.
Only a few sporty eMTBs come with a Kiox display.
And to be honest, it doesn't really fit on a beast like the Mondraker Dune.
Still a completely unique number. The DJI display with OLED screen and touch function. However, this display is only available in combination with a DJI Avinox motor.
