Canyon NEURON:ONfly CF 8 Review

The NEURON:ONfly CF 8 is Canyon's first light eMTB and impresses above all with its high-quality frame. The team of developers and designers have not only succeeded in creating a good design, but also in adding useful features. The steering stop limiter or the integrated cable routing should be mentioned here, as well as the double-sealed bearings. The chassis is also available in five sizes from XS to XL.

The SX from Bosch shows impressively that they shouldn't be limited to DIY and household products. The developers at Bosch are entering the race with their first Light Motor, the Performance SX. With 55 Nm of torque, the unit sits squarely between Fazua's Ride 60 and TQ's HPR 50. However, it delivers similar power values to the popular Full-Power sibling, the Powermotor CX, with up to 600 watts of assistance. However, the Bosch SX only delivers this power at a very high cadence. To feel the full power, one must pedal at a sporty 100 revolutions per minute. The startup behavior remains harmonious. The entire motor control is natural. While in operation, the Performance SX is quieter than the Powermotor CX, but still louder than the sometimes whisper-quiet competition from Fazua or TQ. When descending, Bosch has managed to reduce rattling compared to the CX model, although it remains noticeably audible with the SX. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the NEURON:ONfly CF 8 , because of its low range. Who wants to remove the battery for charging or storing, will be disappointed with the NEURON:ONfly CF 8. The battery is firmly built-in.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Canyon NEURON:ONfly CF 8 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (6000) .

Carbon frames are rather the exception in the price range of about 5500€. With the carbon fibre chassis, Canyon thus sets clear accents compared to the aluminium competitors. The Fox chassis provides safety and traction, even when the trail gets rougher. However, it comes to its limit at high speed. With its four pistons and larger brake rotors the Shimano braking system decelerates excellently. This allows you to maintain control over your own pace even in the steepest descents. The average shifting components and accessories leave some tuning potential open. For most e-bikers, this should be an acceptable point. When it comes to the geometry, Canyon does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. For the good geometry, the developer team of Canyon definitely deserves props. Such a knack for detail in geometry is rarely seen. With its 19,6 kg, the NEURON:ONfly CF 8 is one of the lighter E-bikes. The competition is often significantly heavier.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Canyon NEURON:ONfly CF 8

Fans of challenging descents have to grit their teeth when it comes to the final_Cons. Those who are willing to compromise can get a great bike_model. Especially the final_Pros make it easy to keep the finger on the brake lever during descents in the einsatzgebiet. Good too: The generous range makes long rides possible. The generous warranty of 6 years proves that Canyon stands behind its products.
