KTM MACINA RACE 571 Review

Bosch is the major motor manufacturer in the EMTB world, alongside Shimano - and it's no surprise, as the Performance Line CX shows. The Bosch motor climbs steep ramps effortlessly. The very natural riding feeling combines the Bosch Performance Line CX with a dynamic power delivery. Achieving such a perfect balance between natural support and power is something few other engines can do. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the MACINA RACE 571 with only an average range.

Rough descents take the good SR Suntour fork brand its course, though not with the calmness of a top-end fork. Especially for heavy riders, the KTM brakes could be a problem. With four pistons and small 180 brake rotors they only decelerate averagely. Taking a holistic approach also includes looking at the gearing and components. The components are of good qualtiy and offer no reason for criticism here. If the Meta's chainstay length is less than 445, the short chainstay and, if the Reach's Relative Rating is less than 3, the relatively short reach characterise the KTM as a playful, agile bike. This makes it easy to navigate through winding trails. Small wheels are becoming rare, but with the MACINA RACE 571 the 27.5 wheels pay off with a playful riding experience. The low bottom bracket height is a party pooper for the handling on the trail. On other bikes, you are more centrally located behind the handlebar. It's no use beating around the bush: the geometry of KTM doesn't suit our taste. Competitors are closer to the cutting edge here. On the scale, the MACINA RACE 571 makes a good figure with 22,5 kg. Most Tourenbikes are significantly heavier.
