The TrailRay 140E 8.0 wants to be a classic touring bike with 140 mm of travel on the fork.
At steep sections, the somewhat weak Yamaha motor requires a lot of initiative from the rider. The Yamaha PW-X2 gives off a natural riding feeling. The average range can become a problem especially for long mountain bike rides.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the R Raymon TrailRay 140E 8.0 in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (5000) .

On rough terrain, the TrailRay 140E 8.0 with its average Rock Shox chassis lacks bit of control. The mid-range brakes from Tektro do their job but could be a bit firmer. The power of the four pistons setup is only average. The average shifting components and accessories leave some tuning potential open. For most e-bikers, this should be an acceptable point. When it comes to the geometry, R Raymon does not go completely crazy. The head tube angle and reach values were chosen with care. The result: A balanced riding behaviour with a good combination of playfulness and straight-line stability. The low bottom bracket height is a party pooper for the handling on the trail. On other bikes, you are more centrally located behind the handlebar. It's no use beating around the bush: the geometry of R Raymon doesn't suit our taste. Competitors are closer to the cutting edge here. With weight, the TrailRay 140E 8.0 is generally one of the heavier e-bikes on the market.

Conclusion

Expirience with the R Raymon TrailRay 140E 8.0

Even though the TrailRay 140E 8.0 is not a top of the class, it still has a clear character. Despite a simple chassis and a mediocre brake system, it remains a solid downhill rider. So R Raymon appeals mainly to single trail lovers. Check the geometry table carefully before buying: The TrailRay 140E 8.0 sizing runs big.
